Primera Engineers is looking for an energy professional to join the Energy Management Services Group. This individual will produce energy simulations for national and international buildings, review energy modeling documentation for national and international LEED certification applications, and perform other duties related to building energy usage. Projects range from office buildings, to research facilities, to schools, and other public facilities.
Major responsibilities are as follows:
Perform energy modeling, assessments, and other analyses to evaluate building designs and to identify opportunities for improvements in energy efficiencies. Provide engineering support to the design team as part of the integrated design process. Assist MEP Engineers (both in-house and consultants) with the selection of mechanical systems. Review project drawings and specifications to verify the equipment and materials for energy modeling. Interface with clients to discuss sustainable design, energy reduction strategies, and present energy analysis findings. Ensure project documentation meets LEED requirements. Work with utility, state, and national programs to assist in the securing of grants or other resources needed to procure Third Party funding for construction, studies, etc. Develop office standards and energy model templates. Perform building assessments for Energy Star ratings and other energy performance aspects. Assist with training other engineering staff in energy modeling techniques and protocols. Prepare reports and maintain related project documents and files.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a problem solver with strong project management skills who can deliver projects on budget, within schedules, and per project goals. Bachelor of Science in Energy Management or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on building energy systems, energy analysis, and thermal science is required. PE license or EIT is desirable along with LEED®AP certification. 3 - 5 years of experience in commercial building energy engineering is essential. Proficiency with Excel, eQUEST energy management tools, and various energy modeling techniques is required. Ability to use AutoCAD, AutoDesk MEP, and/or Revit is essential. Working knowledge of relevant building energy codes, sustainability, green building rating systems, and ASHRAE standards is preferred. Must have good written and verbal communications skills including ability to interface effectively with clients.
